Our History

CoachComm, LLC is the established leader in providing winning solutions to athletic programs nationwide.

CoachComm is the wireless sideline communications provider for 95% of Division 1A colleges and thousands of high school and small college programs across the country. Based out of Auburn, Ala., CoachComm offers the best sideline communications equipment and coaching tools available on the market today.

How We Began
Originally a one-man operation, CoachComm was founded in 1991 by Peter Amos. Peter created a football-specific user interface for Auburn University that significantly enhanced sideline communications performance. It was this technology that attracted the attention of Division 1A and professional football teams. Almost instantly, it was adopted as the standard in sideline communications.

As the high-end headset business was taking off, Peter began to create CoachComm – an entire business dedicated to advancing communication technology. He planned to sell headset systems to Division 1A football teams and high schools across the country. Over the next few years, CoachComm began providing high school level products initially limited to headsets and later including less expensive two-way radio based systems.

Video and the Commando Remote
In 1995, CoachComm began offering video equipment such as VCRs, cameras and projectors for game tape analysis. Two years later, CoachComm launched its first proprietary video product – the Commando Remote. The Commando was a huge success and has become the de-facto standard in the sports video industry.

Connex sets the Standard
The Connex communication system, now the standard in wireless sideline communication, was a result of Peter's focused efforts in headset technology. Connex features high-speed digital technology, which provides clear, affordable, reliable communication for coaches. CoachComm's continued commitment to product innovation and quality have made the Connex headset system our flagship product.

Editing Changes the Game
CoachComm added video editing to its lineup of products in 1998, the first being the CoachWin editing system. CoachWin was a hardware/software-based, tape-to-tape editing system that allowed coaches to organize and re-sort their game tapes based on game data. This video editing system could easily show coaches and players the tendencies of opponents for game plan preparation.

Our editing products evolved into software-only solutions, which provide coaches with endless options and the ability to see video of any and every situation on the playing field. Our current product, PowerEdit, is a revolutionary editing system that is a high quality, easy-to-use, sport-specific system that is very affordable, yet offers many features only available to Division 1-level colleges. PowerEdit's 10x technology allows for 10 times more video and provides 10 times more speed and more ways than ever for coaches to work.

No other system offers coaches, players, parents and recruiters the ability to access video, share documents, view calendars and communicate like TeamHiway – CoachComm's web platform. TeamHiway provides a secure, web-based solution for access to information for all sports within any size school.

Expanding Outside Sports
CoachComm has expanded its communication vision to encompass cutting-edge wireless technologies for the production community, among other markets. CoachComm's Tempest product serves as a DTV transition solution. Tempest is a frequency hopping, spread spectrum wireless intercom unit that operates in 2.4 Hz and 900 MHz bands - bands that don't require licenses and are already in commercial use with cordless phones, Bluetooth and WiFi. Tempest is an emerging technology that provides many markets with a "new way of wireless audio" in a changing spectrum. Tempest is truly “wireless for the real world.”

Digital Technology for a New Age
CoachComm understands the changing digital world, and has adapted to meet the needs of more technology-savvy coaches. With our SIFT suite of digital technologies introduced in 2010, CoachComm allows coaches to capture, replay and present information in an entirely new way. Our high-definition IP cameras, coupled with these new digital solutions, creates a collection of products that will pave the way for our company in the 21st century.
