Coach Profile

Coach Rich Muraco moved from upstate New York to Nevada in the mid-90s. At the time, he was an elementary school P.E. teacher with very limited coaching experience.  Today, Coach Muraco, with a 41-10-0 record, is one of Nevada’s top coaches. Coach Muraco was named Southeast Division Coach of the year in 2010 and 2011. He has three Southeast Division Championships and three Sunrise Regional Championships.

Coach Muraco is entering his 5th year as Liberty’s football coach and his 11th overall at Liberty. Coach Muraco teaches weight training and is also the Athletic Director at Liberty. In 2009, his first year at Liberty High School, Coach Muraco led the Patriots to both their first winning season and their first playoff game. Liberty’s football program is still young, with the school celebrating ten years of operation this year. However, the coaching staff at Liberty has made a big splash already, and is working to do more.

Liberty’s schedule this season is impressive. They’ll open the season away against the Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association State Champion, Bishop Gorman, in Salpointe, AZ and then face the California Open Division Southern Regional Bowl Champion, Centennial High School, in Corona, CA before returning for their first home game after Labor Day.

The Patriots have finished 11-2 for the last three seasons and have made it to the semi-finals every year since 2009. In 2012, the Liberty Patriots won the Southeast Division Championship and the Sunrise Regional Championship for the third straight year. The Patriots played in the Nevada Division 1 State Championship for the first time this year, finishing the season ranked #2 in the state of Nevada.

“I’ve used other companies’ headsets in the past and the Connex System is by far and away the best system we have ever used.”

Coach Muraco believes their Connex system gives them a leg up in the game. “I’ve used other companies’ headsets in the past and the Connex System is by far and away the best system we have ever used,” he told us. “With other systems, it was like rolling the dice to see if they were going to work on a week to week basis. But with the Connex system – it’s always crystal clear and reliable. I highly recommend CoachComm.”
