USA Today High School Sports ranked Mount Carmel High School first among the top high school football programs in the state of Illinois for 2013.
Mount Carmel’s Head Coach, Frank Lenti, is 326-59 in 29 seasons and continues to set a state record with each victory. The Caravan beat Glenbard North last season 28-14 at Memorial Stadium to become the first Catholic school to win the Class 8A championship. Mount Carmel has an impressive eleven state football championships. The team has also won a record-breaking 13 Chicago Prep Bowl Championships, beginning with their first 1927 and most recent in 2011. The Caravan’s eleven state championships and combined 15 top-two-finishes are both the second highest totals in Illinois history.
Mount Carmel’s program is a legacy in high school football. Boasting numerous alumni in the NFL, including Donovan McNabb and Simeon Rice, the Mount Carmel program has also seen three former head football coaches go on to notable college head coaching careers.
Coach Lenti trusts Connex for communicating with his staff during championship seasons. “CoachComm’s products are second to none, especially their sideline communication equipment. However, more important than their products are their character and commitment to their customers. It’s always a pleasure to work with the CoachComm team,” says Coach Lenti.
Mount Carmel’s varsity team plays its home games at Gately Stadium. The Caravan will play their first game of the season at home on August 30th against St. Patrick High School.
